I have a soft-spot for old-timey things, so I was over the moon when I came across this pattern for good old fashioned juggling balls. The pattern is a couple years old now, but they’re easy and fast to make, fun to play with, and a great use of scrap yarn.
In fact, I’m presently working on other uses for these, because it’s a great little pattern. Making them is pretty fun. The pattern designer suggests filling them with dried beans to give them a good weight for juggling balls (I used dried navy beans, and that weight works pretty well), but there must be more! So far I have: filled with dried lavender or orange peels and clove for a scented drawer pouch, filled with catnip and cotton fill for a cat toy, and filled with cotton fill to be used as a baby toy or a rattle insert to make a rattle-ball. I’ll update this as I think of more. In short, though, I’m super excited to have found this pattern!
